MangaUpdates

MangaUpdates (mangaupdates.com) is a long-running, community-maintained database focused on manga, manhwa, and manhua. For years it has been a go-to reference for series details and, above all, release information — which chapters have come out, from which scanlation or official source, and when.

What MangaUpdates Is Known For

Its reputation rests on the depth and accuracy of its release data:

• Comprehensive series listings with detailed metadata
• A reliable record of release history and serialization status
• Community features — user lists, ratings, and forums

For checking the latest released chapter of an obscure title, few resources match it.

Where It Falls Short

MangaUpdates is web-first and database-oriented. It offers list-keeping, but it isn't built around the mobile experience or reliable push notifications for new chapters. Readers who rely on it as a release-schedule reference often still want a dedicated app to actually alert them.

Pairing It With a Tracker

Many readers use MangaUpdates for its database and a manga tracker for everything else — a synced library, stats, and instant alerts. MangaTime fills exactly that role, turning the release information you'd look up manually into automatic new chapter alerts on your phone. It sits naturally alongside tools like Mihon.
