Synopsis
As the Katjvarna Empire fights to hold its frontier against the Kioka Republic, ambitious officer candidate Yatorishino persuades Ikuta, a brilliant but indolent pacifist, to sit for the military examinations alongside her. Their plans change when the exam voyage ends in disaster, leaving them and several fellow candidates stranded in hostile territory with a young girl whose identity carries political weight.
