Synopsis

In contemporary Japan, Sumida wants an unremarkable life: steady work, an ordinary family, and freedom from both success and failure. His plans are shaken when his father is driven from home and his mother abandons him for her partner. As neglect and isolation erode his sense of stability, Sumida struggles to preserve his ideal of normality while confronting increasingly troubling thoughts.
