Synopsis
In the sixteenth-century Holy Roman Empire, religious persecution turns Ella into an orphan after the Church condemns her family as witches. Taken to a remote monastery with other children branded by their parents' alleged crimes, she must endure a harsh life shaped by fear, rigid faith, and brutal punishment. An execution device fashioned after the Virgin Mary looms over their struggle to survive.
