Synopsis
After drifting into a reckless life in Tokyo, Kaiji Itou is confronted by a financier over a debt he once guaranteed for someone else. With no way to repay it, he boards the gambling vessel Espoir, where debtors can gamble for a clean slate. His first challenge is a restricted card game in which victory clears the debt and defeat carries a devastating personal cost.
