Synopsis

After years of military service, Leah Hildebrandt returns to civilian life as head of her family and guardian of its social standing. Her brother Richt, the expected heir, vanished after promising to come back only once he had made something of himself. With his fate uncertain, Leah seeks a politically useful marriage, but personal feelings complicate the arrangement.
