Synopsis
Near the Caspian Sea in the nineteenth century, Amir leaves her mountain village to join the household of Karluk, her new husband and a boy eight years younger. As she adapts to marriage and the rhythms of village life, relatives from her own family arrive with plans to reclaim her, threatening the fragile bond forming in her new home.
