Synopsis

In the isolated village of Sotoba, where fir trees support a trade in tombstones, a wave of unexplained deaths arrives during an oppressive summer. As neighbors find relatives dead in their homes and a mysterious family settles in a mountain mansion, local doctors investigate a possible epidemic. Their search takes a frightening turn when the dead begin appearing after dark, forcing the community to question who is victim and who is threat.
